Dr. Lowenstein Earns Nationwide Top Doctor Recognition…Again

Ever wonder who doctors turn to when they need medical help for themselves or their loved ones? This is exactly the premise of the Castle Connolly Top Doctor Award.

Those who are listed as Castle Connolly Top Doctors are nominated by fellow physicians and allied medical professionals throughout the country. In fact, many physicians insist that this award is the only legitimate way that excellence is recognized in American medicine.

Dr. Lowenstein is both honored and humbled to join the ranks of Castle Conolly Top Doctors in orthopedic surgery…again. In fact, he has earned this award every year since 2015. Quite an accomplishment!

To determine the recipients, Jersey’s Best magazine teams up with Castle Connolly to provide a list of New Jersey’s best general practitioners and specialty doctors. It’s an excellent resource for New Jersey residents who are looking to find doctors that stand out in the crowd.

With over 800,000 doctors practicing medicine, how does one become a Top Doctor? Let’s take a closer look.

Earning Top Doctor Status

For over 25 years, Castle Connolly has compiled a list of Top Doctors. Each year, thousands of doctors across the country are asked to nominate other physicians who stand out in their field of expertise.

To ensure fairness, medical doctors (MDs), doctors of osteopathy (DOs), and other esteemed medical professionals are given a ballot with a unique access code. This prevents doctors from nominating themselves for the award.

Once the nominations are in, the Castle Connolly research team performs all of the legwork. This physician-led team begins the screening process to make sure a nominee meets certain strict, Castle Connolly standards.

Evaluation for Top Doctor status includes assessing:

  • Professional education and qualifications
  • Hospital and faculty appointments
  • Contributions to research
  • Professional reputation
  • Disciplinary or malpractice history
  • Outcome data related to procedures and/or other metrics

Interpersonal skills are also ranked very highly. After all, a good “bedside manner” goes a long way toward making patients feel more comfortable and confident in their doctor. A doctor’s empathy, communication skills, and trustworthiness are also evaluated.

Furthermore, doctors cannot pay to be added to the Castle Connolly Top Doctors list. The nominations are anonymous and confidential. Undoubtedly, this rigorous research process ensures that only the doctors who excel in the field through their research, practices, outcomes, and interpersonal skills are included.

Dr. Lowenstein’s dedication to improving the lives of those with spinal and orthopedic issues earns him a perennial nomination from his peers for this prestigious award—and other awards (as you’ll soon discover.)
